Dilworth Park’s Winter Attractions Continue into the New Year

PHILADELPHIA (January 4, 2024): Center City District (CCD) continues to provide exciting seasonal amenities at Dilworth Park into the New Year, including the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink and Cabin through February 25 and the Wintergarden through March 17.

Beginning Wednesday, January 3, updated hours at the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink and Cabin will be: 

Mon-Thurs: 3:30 p.m.-9 p.m. 
Fri: 3:30 p.m.-11 p.m.
Sat: 11:30 a.m.-11 p.m. 
Sun: 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m. 

Timed 90-minute ice skating sessions can be purchased online at rothmanrink.ticketsocket.com. Admission is $6 for children 10 and younger, and $9 for adults; skate rental is $10 per person and discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. 

Now through February 25, adults and children with physical/developmental disabilities can reserve a sled to use on the ice at no charge, including free admission, thanks to Magee Rehabilitation Hospital. Additionally, one adult accompanying the sled user will also receive complimentary admission and skate rental. To reserve a sled, email sleds@rinkmanagement.com.  
 

Free in February presented by Rothman Orthopaedics also returns to give Philadelphians the opportunity to enjoy free admission to the city’s premier ice rink. Beginning February 5 through February 20, skaters of all ages will be able to hit the ice at no charge on Mondays and Tuesdays. Skate rental is not included. 

The Rothman Orthopaedics Cabin continues to offer cold-weather favorites like hearty burgers, soups and plant-based bowls. At the bar, adults 21 and older will find tasty cocktails made with Hornitos® Tequila and Haku® Vodka, plus local and craft beers, including Kona Big Wave and Michelob Ultra. Outside on the TD Bank Terrace, toasty fire pits are available to enjoy at no charge. 

The whimsical Wintergarden on the Greenfield Lawn remains open through the start of spring, closing for the season on March 17. Featuring hundreds of twinkling lights, reindeer topiaries and woodland décor, this outdoor oasis is the perfect spot to relax amid the bustle of Center City. Most of the Wintergarden’s plant material will be repurposed after the garden is disassembled, further beautifying CCD parks and planters throughout the downtown.

The Wintergarden on the Greenfield Lawn is a picturesque and whimsical outdoor sanctuary for visitors to relax amid the bustle of Center City. Highlights include rustic décor, playful reindeer topiaries and twinkling lights.

Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink
Daily, Through February 25, 2024

Experience Philadelphia’s premier wintertime destination, open 7 days a week. Reservations are encouraged for timed, 90-minute skating sessions. Purchase tickets online ahead of time and find the full schedule at rothmanrink.ticketsocket.com.

Children and adults with physical/developmental disabilities can reserve a sled for skating through February 25. To reserve a sled email, sleds@rinkmanagement.com.

Cocktails and Cold Ones
Wednesdays, 5 p.m.-7 p.m.

Sip $7 Maker’s Mark® Bourbon cocktails, $6 wine and $5 Hazy Beer Hug plus discounted weekly food specials, every Wednesday night at the Rothman Orthopaedics Cabin. This weekly happy hour is perfect for after-work outings with colleagues, catching up with friends and post-skating relaxation.

College Nights presented by Temple University
Thursdays, 5:30 p.m.-9 p.m.   
Through February 22, 2024 

College students pay $3 admission with a valid student ID. Online reservations are encouraged. Skate rental not included. Discount cannot be used in conjunction with other offers.

Ice Festival supported by Verizon
Saturday, January 20, 2024
3 p.m. – 7 p.m.


Celebrate the continuation of winter at Dilworth Park with ice skating performances, ice sculptures, dueling ice carving demonstrations and a full-size baby grand piano made entirely from ice. Ice skating at the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink, activities for the family and plenty of warm food and beverages round out the day. This event is supported by Verizon.

Superhero Skate
Saturday, February 3, 2024
1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Kids are invited to skate with their favorite superheroes on the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink! Costumes are encouraged. Children 12 and under will receive a free superhero cape, while supplies last, and a complimentary face painter will join in on the fun.

Lunar New Year Celebration presented by Temple University

5 p.m.- 7 p.m.


Temple University is proud to support this year’s Lunar New Year celebration with a prancing lion, traditional Chinese dancers and a delicious menu in the Rothman Orthopaedics Cabin, where the first 100 guests will receive a lucky red envelope containing secret prizes. Ice skating sessions will be available throughout the evening.

The winter season at Dilworth Park is presented by the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, Temple University and 6abc. All programs are weather permitting and subject to change. Dilworth Park is located at 1 S. 15th St., on the west side of City Hall. Visit DilworthPark.org to learn more.
